urgent medical care

If you or one of your children is injured while playing sports, visit our office for urgent medical care. Very often, sports injuries do not reach the level that they require a trip to the hospital emergency room. Instead, they typically require a fast medical examination and treatment from an office such as ours. Knowing where to go after sports injury can save someone a lot of time and frustration, especially since wait times at the emergency room can be quite astronomical.

Injuries requiring urgent medical care that do not create the need to visit the hospital

Here are some of the injuries that can be treated in our office:

  • Sprains
  • Strains
  • Cuts and lacerations where the bleeding can be stopped by applying pressure
  • Minor back injuries
  • Swelling and bruising
  • Twisting the ankle
  • Whiplash
  • Burns
  • Injury from a fall
  • Fractures

Remember that life-threatening injuries do require a trip to the hospital. However, if the injury is not life-threatening, visiting our office is an excellent way to receive treatment in a faster period of time.

We treat teens and adults

Many of the patients who visit us with a sports injury play for their middle school or high school team. We also treat adults who play sports for fun or in community leagues. We have found that sports injuries can happen during practice just as frequently as they happen during the game. Because of that, patients visit us every day at varying hours for injury-related care.

We can coordinate care with a person's family physician

Visiting us for urgent medical care does not mean that a person's family physician is no longer necessary. While we can take over long-term care, very often, a patient will still visit their family physician for other health-related matters. We can even coordinate care with that physician to ensure that they have the information necessary in the file to follow up with a patient. This is important for providing a continuity of care.

We can refer to a specialist

If someone visits us for medical care and needs additional support from a specialist, we can make that referral. In fact, one of the reasons patients will visit us quickly instead of waiting for an appointment to open up with their primary care physician is to get that referral. For example, after a sports injury, a patient may need to be referred to a physical therapist or orthopedist. Our goal is to provide the immediate treatment of patient needs and then bring everyone else to the table who can help support their complete recovery.

Insurance will usually pay for urgent care appointment

We always recommend that patients touch base with their insurance company to find out what they will pay for and what providers are in network. Knowing that, it is important to note that most insurance companies will pay for trips to the urgent care. To find out which insurance policies we accept, give us a call.
